Hotel Solar do Bom Jesus occupies a recently refurbished historic building, named Solar do Bom Jesus or Solar de Gil Eannes. The name of Solar do Bom Jesus is due to the fact that it is located near the primitive church of Santa Cruz denominated Church of Bom Jesus, since the present one is consecrated to S. Salvador. The Solar, at the time implanted in the domains of Gil Eannes, a noble merchant of Santa Cruz, presents a rectangular plan, with a facade of linear composition, sober and harmonious with traces of civil and erudite architecture, well represented and respected in its restoration, emphasizing Its characteristic tower, the guillotine windows, the patella kneecaps on the windows and doors, as well as the aforementioned and distinct main door.
